Haryana BJP government Release all the arrested anganwadi workers and helpers including the President and General Secretary of AIFAWH immediately
Demand that the government immediately restart the negotiations
AIFAWH condemns the arrest of AIFAWH President Usha Rani and General Secretary A R Sindhu along with several leaders and fighting anganwadi workers and helpers in different places of Haryana state today. We also condemn the severe repression on anganwadi workers and helpers by the Haryana BJP government.
Today, on 3 March 2022 Coordination committee of anganwadi unions in Haryana has given a call for March to Haryana Assembly on the 85th day of the strike when all the efforts for a dialogue with the government failed. Haryana Police under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar started repression from yesterday (2March) morning onwards, harassing and threatening workers and families, cancelling booking of vehicles and threatening the drivers etc. CDPOs asked to ban anganwadi workers and helpers from traveling on state transport buses. From yesterday evening workers were arrested, vehicles were impounded. Today morning hundreds of vehicles with anganwadi workers and helpers are stopped at various places. Hundreds of workers are arrested and detained at various places. Agitating workers are now blocking the roads including highways in many places in Zirakpur, Yamunanagar Panchkulla Road, Panipat toll plaza etc.
It is to be recalled that Anganwadi workers and helpers are on strike since 8 December 2021 for implementation of the increase in remuneration declared in 2018. Last week Haryana government imposed ESMA on ASHA workers to stop their rally in a similar way. Haryana BJP government has crossed all limits resorting to severe repression on the frontline workers who are still risking their lives fighting the pandemic.
AIFAWH strongly condemns this high handedness and authoritarianism of the Haryana BJP Government. We salute the brave anganwadi workers and helpers of Haryana who are fearlessly fighting for their rights for the last 85 days facing various kinds of repression.
AIFAWH calls upon the anganwadi workers and helpers throughout the country to protest against the arrest of several anganwadi workers and helpers including president and secretary of AIFAWH by Haryana police.
AIFAWH demands immediate release of all arrested anganwadi workers and helpers including president and General secretary of AIFAWH, immediately restart the negotiations with the unions and resolve the issues; We demand that the government immediately withdraw all the termination and suspension orders and false cases against the struggling workers and helpers.
We call upon all the works and helpers in the country to protest against the repressive and cowardly action of Haryana government .
Organise protest demonstrations in all projects/districts. Burn the effigies of Haryana Chief Minister.
We also request all those who believe in democracy to come in support of the striking workers.
